The achievement of finish

Detailing a protective decorative system is one thing, ensuring this can be practically achieved on site requires user friendly products, care and experience.

Steelwork subject to handling during loading and site erection will always incur damage to the protective paint system.

The practical achievement of a high quality finish on site is dependent therefore upon the quality of remedial treatment carried out on the damaged areas.

Repairing damaged paintwork on site can be carried out utilising the works applied coating at the same dry film thickness.  Care should be taken to ensure the coatings are applied proud of the adjacent finish and rubbed down to provide a smooth surface to accept the finish coat.

We have included a method statement for the preparation of damaged paintwork so that the life expectancy of the system as detailed within the specification sheets is not comprised.  (See site remedial preparation method statement).

In all cases for achievement of a high quality decorative finish we would advise that a full coat be applied on site.

Suitable standards of finish can be achieved by brush or roller application.  However, it should be stressed that for metallic finishes, the final finish coat must be spray applied.

All products contained within the specifications are free of isocyanates and therefore can be brushed, rolled or spray applied.
