Project: South Central, Elephant & Castle, London

South Central at Steedman Street is the first component of a mixed use regeneration of a large part of Elephant & Castle by Oakmayne Properties. Angled balconies and stepped roof terraces provide a unique silhouette to the building. Hubbard supplied balconies, balustrades, railings, grilles, canopies and even cycle storage racks.

What we did: The Results

Two separate ten storey and five storey blocks have been constructed over a single basement structure to provide 113 apartments and ten live/work units.

Each apartment has a full length balcony with striking red balustrade of steel, hot zinc sprayed and polyester powder coated finish, contrasting with the glass and aquamarine façade. Some of the stepped roof terraces are topped with large pointed steel canopies, also finished to match the balustrades elsewhere and complete with integral privacy screens below.

On this project Hubbard supplied balustrade to more than 50 balconies and in excess of 400 linear meters of balustrade to numerous terraces, some of which include glass infill panel.

In addition Hubbard were responsible for the balustrade and handrail to core stairs. Other metalwork by Hubbard on site also included railings and grilles as well as sundry items such as ladders and cycle storage racks.
